Past, Present And Future

Gerken's TV Service was founded in January 1964 by Bill Gerken. This was when black and white television was the standard and color television was a cutting edge technology and very expensive.

The very first Gerken's store was in a building (that no longer exists) by Cheshire Oil on Route 101, Keene. Richard Taylor joined Gerken's in August of 1964 as a repair technician. In November of 1964, Gerken's was moved to Park Avenue (where Jack's True Value is today). Gerken's added Frigidaire appliances, sales and service of refrigerators, stoves, washers in 1968 and phased them out in 1974 to concentrate on the electronic sector of the business.

In 1969, Rich became a partner and Gerken's Incorporated was formed. Rich purchased the business from Bill Gerken in 1971 and in 1979 moved the business to its present location at 485 Marlboro Street.

Rich has seen many technological breakthroughs over the years. Everything from the basic sets of yesteryear, to the feature packed sets of today with digital pictures, digital stereo, and high definition. Televisions have come a long way since they became popular in the 1940's.

Gerken's carries Mitsubishi, Panasonic, JVC, Sony, Toshiba and other brands. We have air conditioners, antenna systems, Bearcat home and portable scanners, camcorders, DirecTV satellite systems, DVD's, DVD recorders, microwave ovens, stereo equipment, surround sound systems, televisions, VCR's and reconditioned televisions, which come with a 90-day limited warranty. Gerken's also carries accessories: batteries, cables, video and audio tapes, head cleaners for VCR's and more!

Service

Gerken's employees are well trained and knowledgeable. We have factory trained service technicians who frequently attend classes and seminars to keep up to date with all the new technology. Our service manager, Gary Merwin can diagnose almost any piece of electronic equipment and provide you with a written estimate for repair.

Satellite

Gerken's satellite division is supervised by Eric Handy, who installs and services satellite and antenna systems. Eric and crew also deliver and install air conditioners, televisions, surround sound systems, and other home entertainment products.

Sales

Our sales force is made up of Mark Eaton and Shar Burdick (our office manager). Rich Taylor is also available to help out on the sales floor, or in our service department.
